Ljutenica/Lutenica is a Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Croatian and Romanian preparation made from grilled peppers and tomatoes, which are combined with salt, vegetable oil and spices to form a puree/spread be processed. It is one of the traditional ways of preserving peppers and tomatoes for the winter.

At harvest time, the scent of grilled peppers is omnipresent in the villages of Bulgaria and Slavonia, and numerous recipes circulate, differing even from village to village and family to family. Depending on the recipe, carrots, chillies, parsley and occasionally aubergines are also used. Other names/variations are Ljutika (with onions) or Apetitka (hotter). Dozens of different varieties are available in Bulgarian supermarkets.
